Our opening ceremony will be in Durham Cathedral’s beautiful Chapter House, which is famously the setting of Professor McGonagall’s Transfiguration classroom in the Harry Potter movies. The cathedral is one of the most impressive in England, and is over 900 years old. We are very excited to welcome our delegates in such an amazing space.

As for the debates, they will be taking place at Elvet Riverside which the main building for many humanities and languages at the university. The rooms are well-sized for committees, and include personal desks. They come complete with a white board, an interactive projector and a podium for all your committee needs.

Our closing ceremony on the 27th January 2019 will be taking place in the Durham Union Society’s Palace Green Debating chambers. It was built in a Tudor style in 1929 and was designed by W.D. Caroe, a major figure in the Arts and Crafts movement. Patrick Stewart and Edward Miliband have graced its halls to give speeches to the Durham Union, so come join in their footsteps!
